Run For Wellness

Exercise Wellness While You Run + Recovery Wellness When You Cross The Finish Line

Serenbe’s Trail Race 5k/15k has always ended with a party at the finish line. Runners grab a Creature Comforts Beer (we’re partial to Tropicalia), a breakfast burrito and fruit before checking out the farmers and other healthy packaged food vendors at the Mini Farmers Market. There’s still a post-race party after the Fall Trail Race on October 19, but this time the health and wellness practitioners from the One Mado Building will join Serenbe Farms to offer runners health analyses, supplements, massages and more.

The morning will begin with a pre-race group warmup, led by Dr. Kate Edwards from Precision Physical Therapy. You never want to run “cold” (muscles, not temperature…the latter is rarely a concern in Georgia!), so this will be a great way to get blood flowing.

Registered Dietitian & Nutritionist Jen Felice will provide tips on how to best fuel your workout and how to optimize post-run recovery, including everything from hydration to meal ideas. Complementing these tips are the supplements and nutrients Southern Integrative & Environmental Medicine will be giving out.

Make sure to stretch after you cross the finish line! The Brainery Chiropractic will have free mini stretch sessions, posture/alignment assessments and some free swag for those who want to stretch on their own. The Gym will also be stretching with runners, focusing on exercises to prevent the most prevalent injuries in running: shin splints (dun dun duuuuunnnn). You can also get someone else to help with sore muscles. The Spa at Serenbe will do chair massages and reflexology for $1 per minute!

There is always plenty of food for a post-race snack (don’t worry, you won’t have to steal bananas…we’re looking at you, dinosaur). Apples and bananas are donated every race by Sprouts, Bamboo Juices will be there with samples, and of course…burritos & Creature Comforts Beer (more for the mental wellness than physical)!
